The Australian Disputes Centre 

ADC is an independent organisation, dedicated to advancing ADR across Australia and internationally to deliver the benefits of world-class Alternative Dispute Resolution to businesses, professionals, governments and communities. They include short courses, as well as mediation and arbitration accreditation in major cities across Australia.   Level 16, 1 Castlereagh St, Sydney, Australia. In July 2018, The Australian Disputes Centre announced a First Nations Mediation Panel.  This is a Panel of specialist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dispute resolvers. It offers culturally appropriate dispute resolution within local indigenous communities.

Department of Peace and Conflict Studies


This Department is housed within the Faculty of Arts and Social Science at University of Sydney. It is currently chaired by Dr Wendy Lambourne. It offers Postgraduate Programs in Peace and Conflict Studies, distance education, summer school courses and a number of post-graduate programs and research.

Charles Sturt University, Wagga

Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga, NSW offers distance education and a Graduate Diploma and a Master of Dispute Resolution program and a number of other related undergraduate courses in their Law Faculty. The focus is on understanding of the causes of conflict and the availability and suitability of various methods of dispute prevention and resolution. Students learn the principles and skills of mediation and conflict management and will be able to apply these skills in public and private disputes.

Bond University, Robina Qld

Bond University Dispute Resolution CentreShort courses in mediation and Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) Practitioner training are offered three times a year in line with Bond’s three semester year enabling timely completion and faster accreditation.  All mediation courses are approved by the Mediator Standards Board and FDR courses are recognised by the Attorney General’s Office.

University of Queensland

University of Queensland, offers a Graduate Certificate in mediation and conflict resolution (including accreditation).

Relationships Australia is an independent, not-for-profit organisation offering both mediation and counselling in all states. American University,  American University International Negotiation and Conflict Resolution degree program.  The program allows students to specialize in International Negotiation and Conflict Resolution focusing on global conflict and international dispute resolution. The American Univeristy Negotiation and Conflict Resolution program is also offered in an online setting which is ideal for students who are unable to attend class in a traditional classroom setting.   Further details HERE

National Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Otago (NCPACS) 
Dunedin New Zealand. Headed by Prof Kevin Clements within the Division of Humanities, the centre combines global cross-disciplinary expertise on development, peacebuilding and conflict transformation. It offers postgraduate programs, conducts research on violent conflict and sustainable peace and provides training and expert advice to government and NGOs.

Norwich University Online Master’s in Diplomacy program specializes in international conflict management. They carefully cover controversial areas of peacekeeping with the use of diplomatic practices to avoid and manage conflict.

International Program in Conflict Resolution and Mediation Tel Aviv University,Israel, has commenced in 2009 an International Program in Conflict Resolution and Mediation, a one-year English-language MA. It offers students around the world the opportunity to study international conflict resolution with access to experienced professionals.

Centre for Peace and Reconciliation Studies, Coventry University(UK): Postgraduate study: MA and Postgraduate Certificate programs, on campus and by distance learning.  They explore methods of transforming violent relationships by nonviolent means. Courses support project management, for people working with peace and change agencies.

European University Center for Peace Studies (EPU) Stadtschlaining, Austria. Founded in 1988 by its current President, Dr. Gerald Mader. It provides Certificate and MA courses in conflict transformation and peacebuilding in a transnational student environment. All the courses are taught in English, by leading specialists in their field from around the world, including Johan Galtung.

The Canadian School of Peacebuilding (CSOP), an institute of Canadian Mennonite University, offers a selection of 5-day courses each June. Courses can be taken for professional or personal development or for academic credit.

INCORE (International Conflict Research Institute), is a joint project of the United Nations University and the University of Ulster. Combining research, education and comparative analysis it is located within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ulster.

The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University, has developed new knowledge and insights within the field of social policy and health and human services management. Heller’s interdisciplinary approach prepares its graduates for careers finding solutions to society’s most pressing social problems.

ADR Institute of Ontario(ADRIO) provides practitioners and the public with information and resources about Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), and access to competent professionals.

Triune Arts, is a non-profit institution. Gesher: Building Bridges and The Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution and Training, based in Massachusetts, USA and headed by Mitch Gordon, works with nonprofit management, and offers mediation, and conflict resolution, especially to Jewish based organizations.

The International Center for Ethno-Religious Mediation (ICERM) fosters a culture peace amongst ethnic and religious groups. It offers educational videos in conflict analysis and resolution with original research and best practices from both conflict scholars and practitioners. 

The Peace and Justice Studies Association, (PJSA) University of San Francisco offers a Global Directory for purchase online in a fully searchable and easy-to-use database. International Center on Nonviolent Conflict,  (ICNC) Washington, DC,  develops and encourages the study and use of civilian-based, nonmilitary strategies to establish and defend human rights, democracy and justice worldwide. Great Resources links to books etc on non-violence.

Institute for Resource and Security Studies, International Conflict Management Program, (IRSS) builds capacities and develops policies whereby conflict-torn communities engage in cooperative actions that promote peace and social reconstruction.
